Music composer Gaurav Chatterji Known for songs ‘Phunk Phunk’, ‘Jai Mummy Di’ and ‘Afat-e-Ishq’ from ‘Ginni Weds Sunny’. Now he has composed a song and background score for Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah starrer Jalsa. Helmed by director Suresh Triveni, it is streaming on Amazon Prime from March 18.
Gaurav talks about his experience composing music for the film ‘Jalsa’ and the unique elements added to the background score. Sharing about composing the music for the film, he says, ‘Jalsa is a very special film for me, as director Suresh Triveni made me push my limits and explore the emotional story of the music for the film. given complete freedom. Talking about the background score of the film, he says, “In Jalsa, my attempt was to mix elements of Indian classical music with other musical forms to create my own sound! At Jalsa, I have tried to research core themes and pieces in Indian classical mixed with various musical forms (Persian, electronic, western classical, waltz). I am very happy to know that the cast of Jalsa (Vidya and Shefali) shot on the music composed by me.
‘Thehar’ was prepared like this
Regarding the song “Thehar” in the film, he revealed, ‘Thehar, which is the song in the film, this song is about stopping for a moment and just letting life breathe for a moment and I am very happy. That Shilpa Rao has sung it.’ He adds, ‘It was an exciting and tremendous experience. Getting the help of a renowned orchestra to play a piece of music written by me is a dream come true. I feel very grateful for writing musical notations for the musicians in the Budapest Art Orchestra.’
